Imagine yourself standing on a podium addressing a gathering and giving a speech on your favorite topic. The crowd in front of you consists of people from all walks of life, who have gathered there to listen to what you are presenting. If you wish your audience to really enjoy the show, you will need to understand their thoughts and expectations first. Though your presentation skills and speech style matters a lot, crowd retention and raising their interest towards you would always have to do with delivering on what interests them. It’s the same when it comes to presenting information to your audience while they are on your webpage.

All researches are usually focused in identifying the trends and latest news in your industry. Forums and communities can help you realize the kind of queries your target audience might have. Clearing them and writing thoughtful blogs and articles revolving on those lines would certainly help your audience.

The real challenge with online audience is there are no proven tools to identify what they want to listen to from you; however feedback systems can help to a certain extent.

Google Analytics can help in understanding a lot regarding demographics of your existing audience and their likely area of interest. This would help you to focus your efforts on what your visitors would like to listen to from your website.

Remember! Your audience can be retained and converted to repeated visitors (customers) by providing relevant and informative content on your website.

Google Instant – Predictive search from Google

Google Instant Predictive search technology delivers faster search results to users as results are shown on the fly while the user types in his keywords. Results are recomputed based on the keystrokes and search results keeps changing as you go. This helps users to get better and faster results as they type what they want to search.

Google Instant is a preferred search solution by smart phone users, as it displays search results with minimal key strokes.

For some users (including myself) this feature at times seems to be very annoying. Since we get results showing on the fly, i keep cutting short my entire keyword phrase and move along with any result i see on the way, and forget my initial search itself. However, Google provides a switch to toggle this setting. On the top right hand side of the search window we will find ‘Search settings’. On this page, we can set Google Instant On/Off.

Google is yet to comment on the additional energy use and carbon footprint that its new predictive search technology brings in!!
