GTUGs are user groups for people who are interested in Google’s developer technology; everything from the Android and App Engine platforms, to product APIs like the YouTube API and the Google Calendar API, to initiatives like OpenSocial.
A GTUG can take many forms — from just a few people getting together to watch latest video, to large gatherings with demos and lectures, to events like code sprints and hackathons and discussions on certain topics that are simply not available to the public domain.
The objective is to enable developers to share information, knowledge and experience with others both online and through regular meet-ups and events.
To promote the event organisers and volunteers offer goodies for participants. Giveaways include Google Technology User Group T-Shirts, Various Google O’Reilly Books, Pens, Stickers, Etc…
GTUG is growing by the day with new members joining each user group and new user groups sprouting at every corner of the world. To know about a GTUG near you, check this out: http://www.gtugs.org/directory.jsp
